Carrie May, P.E.

Carrie is the Owner and Principal Engineer at Boyne Engineering and Design.  She is an Experienced Professional Engineer with over 25 years of experience in Land Development, Engineering, and Construction.

Carrie has a strong reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality engineering projects, personal attention to clients, and professional representation of her work to local regulating agencies.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in construction management from Michigan Technological University, Carrie started her career in heavy industrial construction with Mortenson out of Minneapolis.  She was a construction engineer working on the Nashville wastewater treatment plant and wastewater pumping station, spent time in Mortenson’s corporate estimating department, and as an engineer on a Seagate manufacturing facility in Limavady, Northern Ireland.  She then joined Gallatin Engineering and Design in Tennessee.  As a professional engineer with GEDS Carrie was involved with the design of residential and commercial developments and modeling and analysis of municipal stormwater systems.

In 2002, Carrie started Boyne Engineering and Design which has successfully provided a wide range of engineering services across Northern Michigan since that time.  Boyne Engineering and Design’s low overhead business model has allowed Carrie to serve a strong repeat client base at very competitive rates and with superior attention to quality-of-design.  Recently, Carrie spent some time working with Gourdie Fraser in Traverse City as a Senior Project Manager in private land development but is now back full time at Boyne Engineering and Design

Outside of the office, Carrie enjoys time with her husband and two college-age children and maintains another small business creating and selling artwork which can be seen at:
